A new layer of the cornea has been discovered in the human eye. The cornea is the clear window at the front of the human eye, and the discovery of the new layer, called Dua's layer after the scientists who found it, could help surgeons dramatically improve outcomes for patients undergoing corneal grafts and transplants. It also means that ophthalmology textbooks will literally need to be re-written.
